Matthew Herzberg, AIA is a licensed architect who has been practicing for 20 years. His award-winning work has produced inspired structures for delighted clients in New York, Chicago, Florida, and throughout New England, where he is now based.
A deep understanding of place, vernacular design, and the experiential qualities of architecture are the foundations of Matthew's process. In a practical sense, this means not just paying close attention to how a building looks, but also how it can engage all our senses, how the character of a space might change through seasons and over years, and how these attributes affect our perception of the built environment.
Matthew’s architectural career began in the Princeton, NJ studio of the AIA Gold Medal winning architect and designer, Michael Graves. He has since worked for Florian Architects in Chicago and James Dixon Architect, where he most recently served as Studio Director for the firm’s Chatham, NY office.
A graduate of Emory University (BA in History) and the University of Maryland (Master of Architecture), Matthew is a member of the American Institute of Architects and is a LEED Accredited Professional. Read about his work in the New York Times and other media outlets.
